Located at 1715 5th Street NW, Albuquerque, NM 87102, Meltdown Studio offers small metals/jewelry instruction in both individual and small group settings.

For students with little or no previous jewelry experience, this small class (2-4 students per group) teaches the basics of jewelry-making including techniques such as soldering, texture and surface manipulation, stone setting, cold connections, finishing work and findings. Through small projects, students will learn to incorporate these skills into designs which they create. Students will leave class with at least 3 completed pieces of jewelry. Class meets once a week for two months (8 classes total). Classes are 2 hours, followed by 30 minutes of optional studio time during which students may work on unfinished projects.

Course fee: $280 (includes teaching materials)

This class is for students with some previous jewelry experience or who have completed the beginning class. Intermediate classes will build upon basic techniques and combine them to enable students to create more complex designs. Students will create pieces according to their own designs using skills they have learned and will gain facility within the fabrication process from start to finish. Students will complete at least 3 pieces during the class. Class meets once a week for two months (8 classes total). Classes are 2 hours, followed by 30 minutes of optional studio time during which students may work on unfinished projects.

For students who seek more personalized instruction, individual classes begin with an assessment of the student’s skill level and objectives. Classes will then be organized according to the specific aim of each student and will cover all basic techniques necessary for students to excel in the areas they wish to cover. Individual classes can be scheduled on a weekly or monthly basis.
